If I could give this place more than 5 stars in my review, I would in a heartbeat. My family stayed at this condo in January and we couldn’t have been happier about finding this place. First, the view is beyond spectacular! Every morning, we sat out in the lanai to have breakfast and were treated to a free show of whales, dolphins and turtles. The condo also provided a perfect view of beautiful sunsets. Many local visitors would congregate across the street to watch the sunset – having an upper floor private lanai all to ourselves made us feel like VIPs. There are plenty of high-end resorts in Poipu but few can offer the mesmerizing views that you get from this condo. As for the unit itself, it is nicely furnished and tastefully decorated. The entire place had a luxurious feel to it – the living room and bedrooms were perfectly cool and comfortable, the bathrooms were spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The unit offered ample space for my family of 5 adults. We were also very appreciative for how pleasant the owners were to deal with. They were exceptional in their communication – from the moment we inquired about this condo, booked our reservation, and all throughout our stay – the owners responded timely to all of our inquiries and made sure we knew that they were always accessible. This helped out greatly in planning our vacation. All of our expectations were exceeded and we absolutely can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience. We will definitely book this condo again the next time we visit Kauai.
We (my husband, 4.5 year old, and myself) had a wonderful stay at Alihi Lani #5. We debated between this unit, the property next door (Poipu Kaplili – bigger unit) and Poipu Shores – located closer to the ocean. Upon walking in, I couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice. The condo was the perfect size, plenty of space and beautifully furnished, and as stated well equipped. The kitchen had everything I needed including a vegetable peeler for my picky eater, and kids plates and cups.
My husband and son went directly to the pool, which was the perfect temperature, there are also rolling umbrellas for shade as I watched my little swimmer, and floats for when I joined him. I should note here that Poipu Kapilli does not have an ocean view from the pool at least while your seated. The view from the lawn chairs is wonderful, what a perfect place to relax and read, and to grill out at night. The complex being small, there was never a crowd at the pool or for the grill, and we actually enjoyed meeting most of our neighbors at the pool and trading excursions and travel tips.
My first stop was to check out the water. Just behind the sea wall was a ledge of rocks that led all the way down to the Sheraton. Although it’s probably not the safest activity to recommend, I happily explored the rocks finding numerous tide pools and found it to be my own wonderful adventure. It’s also an easy walk via the road to the Sheraton beach. The sunsets here were amazing! Every night people gathered along the sea wall, with their refreshments to watch. We actually met a lot of locals who came to this spot as well. Our condo gave us the option of viewing from the pool, our balcony, or the sea wall – and we did them all. From our balcony we could see numerous charter boats anchored in front of us, upon taking a snorkeling tour we learned this was a popular home to many tutorials which we could see using the binoculars Cynthia provided us. I can honestly say we never turned the tv on.
In the evening we enjoyed the quiet of sitting outside listening to the waves. Warm nights we had the AC which was more than adequate. My son slept peacefully every night and loved the big bathtub! For days we had chairs, towels, cooler. Cynthia was wonderful and on property with us she had fabulous recommendations for dining and excursions. She even found the most perfect spot for us to take our son trick or treating! I highly recommend this rental.
Our one week excursion at Alihi Lani #1 was absolutely wonderful. The unit was very high quality, well kept and super clean, the first moment we walked in, my wife turned to me with a big fat grin on her face. My wife isn’t easily impressed and with 3 small kids her first priority is always about cleanliness. The master bedroom was spacious and the bathrooms were nice sized and stocked with high quality towels, lotions, soap, and shampoo. Both beds were extremely comfortable and provided ample nights of good shuteye. The unit has many ceiling fans and when used in tandem with the standing fans the air flow was nice, we rarely used the AC units in the bedroom. But the Air conditioners came in handy when the kids needed to nap during the day or for the hotter than normal nights. The condo décor was very homey looking, all done in old fashion Hawaiian plantation style. Kitchen was fully equipped with utensils, pots, pans, and dinnerware; we even made good use of the sippy cups and Tupperware.
The pool was awesome and the lanai was top notch. Lots of lawn chairs, tables, and umbrellas were provided for lounging in the Hawaiian sun. We spent a full day hanging out at the pool with big smiles from all the kids. The view of the ocean is spectacular from the large patio deck.
The condo was stocked with lots of beach equipment (cooler, beach chairs with individual umbrellas, towels, boogie boards, etc…). We didn’t need to bring/buy anything from the store for our beach outings. I was amazed at how well stocked the unit was in all aspects. I honestly can’t think of anything that was overlooked.
The condo was very close to the shopping malls and within walking distance to the Sheraton beachfront and nearby restaurants. The location was perfect and we probably could have just stayed local for all of our grocery needs, but we did venture out to Costco to stock up on snacks for the kids.
Booking was a breeze through VBRO.com; Cynthia was very responsive to all of our questions. We ran into a few issues during our stay, but the onsite management folks (Bill/Kay) were quick to resolve them. I guess the only drawback of the unit is that it sets the bar very high. This place really spoiled us rotten. If you plan on staying here all you really need to do is pack light and get here safely, because all the necessities are provided. We give this place our highest recommendation!
Thanks Cynthia, Bill, and Kay for a memorable and relaxing stay in Kauai!
